These Make Ahead Freezer Waffles Like Eggo’s will satisfy your hunger, and your wallet!
My kids (and husband) love Eggo’s, and they have at least 2 for breakfast whenever we have some on hand. But in my quest to save money and start making things instead of buying them, I decided to try my hand at making waffles in my waffle maker (I use this T-fal Waffle & Sandwich Maker), and freezing them for later.
The secret to making them taste like they were bought at the store is all in the freezing. You’ll want to use a method called Flash Freezing. After you bake your waffles, place them on a cookie sheet, let cool, and then place them in the freezer. Let freeze for about and hour, and then place 1 or 2 at a time in a sandwich bag, and store in the freezer until you are ready to pop them in the toaster.
For this recipe, I use Bisquick, but you can make your waffles from scratch. And because my kids are crazy about chocolate chips, I add the mini chocolate morsels to the mix and stir in. To be quite honest with you, these taste better than Eggo’s, in my opinion! So, no, this is not a copycat Eggo’s recipe (just in case you came here looking for it – sorry)!
And there you have it! An easy, make ahead breakfast freezer meal, which is perfect for busy mornings, and saving a few dollars at the store!
