Demystifying McDonald’s – and why I’m still loving them!

Mcdonalds

I’ve always had such fond memories of McDonald’s. When I was little, I would sleep over at my grandma’s house, and we’d wake up and head to McDonald’s for breakfast, where I always ordered the hotcakes. Or, if we didn’t make it to breakfast, we’d head there for lunch and I’d get a Happy Meal, complete with those delicious Soft Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie boxes (remember those?). I’d have an absolute blast playing in the Play Place, and never wanted to leave.

Now that I’m older, and a parent myself, I love taking my kids there. Just like my younger self, my kids never want to leave the Play Place, which itself has come a long way. Once outside (and still is in some older locations), the Play Place is now inside, which is perfect on a rainy or other bad-weather day. And of course, my children love their Happy Meals! I very much wish McDonald’s still carried those boxes of cookies, because that was one of my fave memories, but I do understand their goal to satisfy their customers requests and add more balanced options to the menu.

In fact, they’ve made great strides in revamping their food options. I love it that they offer Apple Slices in their Happy Meals and am delighted that my kids choose those over their fries! And as for their hamburgers? They actually are made with 100% pure beef! Even their Chicken McNuggets are made with chicken breasts. I especially love their Premium Salad options and Fruit ‘N Yogurt Parfaits! It’s nice that I can go to a fast food place and still eat balanced options! I have absolutely no problems taking my kids to eat there every few weeks.
