This Semi Homemade Animal Cracker Cookies recipe is the perfect way to spend time in the kitchen with your kids! My little ones thought I was the best mom ever when they saw I made these for our recent road trip! You can make these from scratch with these Mini Animal Cookie Cutters, or just save time and use the store bought animal crackers like I did. Trust me, your kids will even love these for school lunch snacks and they can brag that “Mommy made them.”
Semi Homemade Animal Cracker Cookies
Animal Crackers, like Stauffer’s or Barnum’s
Ghiradelli White Melting Wafers
Rainbow Color Sprinkles
Pink Food Coloring (not pictured, but you can get creative with colors!)
In a double boiler (you can use a glass bowl over a pot with 1/2 cup water), melt the Ghiradelli wafers and stir until smooth. Dip the animal crackers in with tongs until coated on both sides and place on wax paper. Continue until you have as many of the white crackers cookies that you want. Then, add 4 drops of pink food coloring and still until fully blended and the color is light pink (or however you prefer, really). Dip however many cookies you want to be pink and repeat the above process. Add rainbow sprinkles on top of all the crackers. Let set in fridge for 10-20 minutes.
How yummy do these look? I’ll admit, I scarfed a few down during taste-testing, ha!
These keep for about 3 days in an air-tight container/bag. If you make them, be sure to leave a comment!
